The origin of this variation to the Crash defense method devised by Mr. Christopher (Kit) Woolsey and Mr. Steve Robinson is unknown. This method is initiated or triggered following a 1 No Trump opening by an opponent.

Alternative Designations

This variation of the Crash conventional defense method is also designated as Original CRO, for Color, Rank, and Odd. It is similar to the original Crash conventional defense method, but it includes the bid of 2 No Trump to show a specific Minor and a specific Major suit. Source: David Stevenson.

The guidelines are shown below.

Double: Penalty. Partner is required to pass.
2 : Promises two suits of the same color - either Clubs and Spades, or Diamonds and Hearts.
2 : Promises two suits of the same rank - either Clubs and Diamonds (Minor suits), or Hearts and Spades (Major suits).
2 : A natural bid showing a long Heart suit.
2 : A natural bid showing a long Spade suit.
2 NT: Promises either Clubs and Hearts, or Diamond and Spades (Odd).
3 : A natural bid showing a long Club suit.
3 : A natural bid showing a long Diamond suit.

Check with the governing body and/or the bridge district and/or the bridge unit prior to the game to establish the guidelines applied. Please include the particular feature on your convention card in order that your opponents are also aware of this feature during the bidding process, since this information must be made known to them according to the Laws of Duplicate Contract Bridge.
