The Alternative Squeeze, or as it is sometimes known, the Either-Or Squeeze, is a simple squeeze played as a double squeeze. The following illustration should clarify the effectiveness of this squeeze play.

	North AKQ3 K
West A		East A
	South 54 7 K A

In this example, West has the Ace of Hearts and East holds the Ace of Diamonds. It is not possible that Spades can be guarded by both opponents, since there are only seven Spades held by both opponents. Therefore, the fourth small Spade held by North can not be termed a Double Menace.

However, when South leads the Ace of Clubs, the opponents holding the fourth Spade or guarding the Spade suit is compelled to unguard the Spade suit in order to hold onto his Ace of Hearts or Ace of Diamonds.

If West started with 4 Spades, the squeeze is on West. Alternatively, (key word), if East started with 4 Spades, then the squeeze is on East.
