These opening bids are based on the features of the Precision bidding system as devised by Mr. Chung Ching Wei, and were devised by Mr. Roy Patrick Kerr of Kurow, New Zealand, born May 16, 1934, and who calculated what is now called the Kerr Metric, a solution to Albert Einstein's field equations of general relativity which helps explain the physics of rotating black holes.

Note: In the year 1963, and not yet thirty years old, Professor Roy Patrick Kerr, working at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, United States, remedied a major difficulty of Einstein's theory by proving that, due to the principle of conservation of angular momentum, a star in the process of collapse would increase its rotation. It would have at its center a ring of neutrons manifesting extraordinary centrifugal force outward, countering the force of gravity on the inside.

Note: Together with Mr. Kip Thorne, a Caltech astrophysicist, Professor Roy Patrick Kerr authored and published the book Black Holes & Time Warp: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy in the year 1993/1994.

Noteworthy

Note: In 1971, Professor Roy Patrick Kerr returned to the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, where he remained until his retirement in the year 1993. Professor Roy Patrick Kerr retired from his position as Professor of Mathematics at the University of Canterbury in the year 1993 after having been there for twenty-two years, including ten years as the head of the Mathematics department. In the year 2008 Professor Roy Patrick Kerr was appointed to the Yevgeny Lifshitz ICRAnet Chair in Pescara, Italy.

Note: On October 29, 2009, newastrophysics posted an interview video with Professor Roy Patrick Kerr. The video is sub-titled in Italian, the country in which Professor Roy Patrick lives. YouTube link.

The co-developer of the Symmetric Club Relay is Mr. Paul Marston, who has been at the forefront of Australian Bridge since he relocated from New Zealand in the year 1981. Mr. Paul Marston is a bridge club owner, bridge teacher, and also a prolific author of bridge books, general bridge articles, and Editor of Australian Bridge.

Mr. Paul Marston is heavily involved with the Grand Slam Bridge Centre located in Double Bay, Sydney, Australia. Although he and Professor Roy Patrick Kerr never authored a publication about the Symmetric Relay Club bidding system, Mr. Paul Marston is the author of five other publications dealing with the game of bridge.

Additional Information

Several other developers and bridge theorists have based their versions of the basic concept, their systems upon the Symmetric Relay structure developed by Professor Roy Patrick Kerr of New Zealand and Mr. Paul Marston, presently of Sydney, Australia. The researcher should review and compare the Major Oriented Strong Club, such as Moscito and the variations thereof.

Note: The very interested bridge student should review the entire structure of the Symmetric Relay System of Professor Roy Patrick Kerr, modified in November 2000 by Mr. Richard Hills
