The origin of this conventional method is unknown. As the designation stipulates this method or modification is based on the concept of the Michaels Cuebid convention It is based on the same principle of the Michaels Cuebid except that a jump cuebid of a Minor suit opening bid shows both Major suits and a jump cuebid of a Major suit promises the other Major suit and an unspecified Minor suit.

The Super Michaels jump cuebid is, according to the parameters of the concept, a game-forcing action. The partnership may not pass before game is reached.

Note: This concept is often times interchanged with the concept behind the Leaping Michaels conventional method. The only difference is that Leaping Michaels is not a game-forcing action.

This action of a jump shift cuebid holds also true for an opening Major suit bid by the opposing side.

Continuances

Any and all continuances are a matter of partnership agreement. This is especially true if the opponent opens 1 Heart. A Super Michaels overcall can become confusing for the partnership without a solid partnership agreement. This is owing to the fact that a response by the advancer of 3 No Trump, normally the inquiry bid for the unspecified Minor suit, can also be interpreted as the final game contract.
