This conventional method was devised by Mr. Jean-Marc Roudinesco of France. This conventional method is popular in the country of France and is applied after the opener has rebid 1 No Trump after a suit opening. With a forcing 2 Clubs rebid by the responder the opener is required to further clarify his holding. It must also be noted that the spelling can also be Roudy, and both spellings are acceptable.

Short Biographie

For the 50th anniversary of the Bermuda Bowl in January 2000, the World Teams returned to Bermuda for Bermuda Bowl and Venice Cup tournaments completing the 1998–1999 cycle. A short exhibition for Seniors was added to the program as was the (third) World Computer Bridge Championships. Six invited teams contested the exhibition for Seniors: four national teams, one from North America, and World Champions comprising one pair each from Austria, Bulgaria, and Israel.

The tournament was conducted in Southampton, Bermuda, between January 8 and January 14, and consisted of only six teams. France placed second with team members Jean-Marc Roudinesco, Pierre Adad, Maurice Aujaleu, and Claude Delmouly.

Mr. Alan Truscott published an article in The New York Times, published June 25, 1994, which is presented in .pdf file format for the convenience of the reader. The main part, however, is excerpted below:

Individual tournaments are unpopular in North America, particularly with the top professional players. But they can be very successful events. At the end of April, 52 invited stars, mainly from Europe, gathered in Paris for the second Generali Masters Individual, a four-session event with cash prizes. They were all players with international credentials, and the final placings were: 1st, Jon Baldursson, Iceland, 55.17 percent; 2d, Christian Mari, France, 55.1; 3d, Jean-Marc Roudinesco, France, tied Jan Westerhof, the Netherlands, 54.17.

Mr. Jean-Marc Roudinesco is also the author of the publication L'Intelligence du Bridge: Ouvertures et Developpements, published by Pierre Belfond in 1972. He also authored Play Bridge with Me: Forty Problems in Card Play (Master Bridge Series), published by Gollancz in January 1980, ISBN-13: 978-0575028807.

Note: The following parameters are established and agreed:

1.	Whenever the responder first bids 1 Spade, then the responder is promising a 5-card plus Spade suit and at least 11 high card points, distributional points not included.
2.	The opening bid is rather irrelevant as long as it is not Spades.
3.	The bid is absolutely forcing for one round.

When the opener rebids 1 No Trump, then the responder must bid 2 Clubs, as in the following diagram to ask opener for additional information regarding his holding:

The forcing 2 Clubs rebid by the responder allows the opener then to further describe his holding.

Once the responder is aware either of the fit and/or no-fit in Spades, then the responder will set the contract accordingly.

Alternative Partnership Agreement

A second rebid by the responder of 2 No Trump instead of 2 is played by some partnerships as a mandatory puppet to 3 in order to either cease the auction in this suit and at this level, or as a forcing rebid to describe holdings with strong values, or to invite to a final contract of 3 No Trump. Responder Shows Fewer Than Game Values

The responder can also show a 5-card Spade suit when the values are less than 10 high card points in the following manner:
