This defense method is a variation of the Suction convention, or Two-Way Exclusion Relay Bidding conventional defense method as is mainly used in TWERB or Two-Way Exclusion Relay Bidding. It has therefore been give the designation Twerb Suction.

This defense method is employed after an opponent has opened the auction with No Trump. The partnership will have to agree as to whether the partnership should also employ this defense method after two consecutive passes. The reader will notice that all bids are bids with multiple meanings and, via a relay bid is it possible for the advancer to discover the actual meaning.
