The origin of this conventional method is unknown. The basis of the concept is the Weak Two bid in either Major suit with the original opening showing a specified suit. The opening can have several meanings, which are then clarified by the rebids.

As indicated the originator of the Tiroler Berg Weak Two Bids remains unknown. However, the originator must have been born in that area between Austria and Italy named Tirol, which has several world-famous mountains or Berge or montange.

Tirol, or Tirolo in Italian, also written as South Tyrol, is a comune (Italian) or Gemeinde (Austria) in the province of South Tyrol, in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol in northern Italy. As a matter of accuracy it must be noted that this area is a geographical entity, which is known as the State of Tyrol in Austria and also as South Tyrol, which is a province in northern Italy.

The name itself derives from the family of Count Meinhard II of Gorizia-Tyrol, which dates back to the 12th century. This family and all following family members dwelled in the castle built on the original site from before 1100 BCE. Today the Castle Tyrol contains the South Tyrolean Museum of History.

	promises a Weak Two bid promising Hearts and an unknown Minor suit.

2 :	To play after a 2 opening. The opener rebids the Minor suit when holding Hearts and a Minor suit
2 NT:	To play in Hearts. The opener rebids the Minor suit when holding Spades and a Minor suit.
