The Muiderberg convention was named after the residence of one of the inventors. Openings of 2 and 2 indicate five cards in the opening suit and four cards in one of the Minor suits and about 6-11 points. The required strength depends on the the vulnerability. Not vulnerable against vulnerable, the player can do do almost any thing. Vulnerable against not vulnerable, the player needs to have the strength of 6-11 points to be in the long suits, especially in the Major suit.

When using Muiderberg, the player should not use the strong 2 and 2 openings. Instead, the player uses 2.
