The concept of the strong Club opening bid has inspired many bridge players to devise and develop various systems. Many of these developers and bridge theorists have based their concepts, their systems upon the Symmetric Relay structure developed by Professor Roy Kerr of New Zealand.
Moscito, the designation, is an acronym of Major Oriented Strong Club Including Tactical Openings. To date this concept has been the most varied and has become the most popular among bridge players. The attempt has been made to list these variations on this web page. The latest, more or less official version of Moscito was published in the Australia's national bridge magazine, Australian Bridge, in the year 2001.
The concept behind Moscito is also MAFIA-based, which is an acronym for Majors First Always, and which also employs the strong, artificial 1 Club opening, generally with holdings containing 15 high card points or the equivalent of similar valuations.
Moscito Byte Bidding System
This bidding system was developed and devised first by Mr. Paul Marston and Mr. Stephen Burgess. The designation is an acronym of Major Oriented Strong Club. For its foundation, Mr. Paul Marston and Mr. Stephen Burgess used to a considerable extent the Symmetric Relay system and applied their version especially in auctions where the opening side has the balance of power. The concept is also a modification of the Weak Opening Systems devised by Mr. Jukasz Slawinski of Poland.
German Variations of Moscito Byte
The German Bridge Federation, at first, did not permit the use of the Moscito Byte bidding system as developed by Mr. Paul Marston and Mr. Stephen Burgess. However, an agreement was reached for the employment of a variation of the concept at German tournaments. Also, a variation with the name German Moscito was developed by Mr. Nikolas Bausback (Luxembourg), Mr. Jürgen Dueball (born 1943 - died 2002, of Solingen, Germany), Mr. Björn Janson (Dortmund, Germany), and Mr. Rene Steiner (Germany), and is based on a Moscito version devised by Mr. Martin Buchen of Australia.

GiB Moscito Byte
GiB is an abbreviation for Ginsberg intelligent Bridgeplayer, which is a computer software program designed to play bridge as a robot-style bride player. Additional information can be obtained from the website. The developer of the software is Mr. Matthew L. Ginsberg. The software is a sophisticated artificial intelligence search algorithms using Monte Carlo techniques for card play and Borel simulations for bidding. This information is dated around 1998-2000. Honeymoon Moscito
The variation of the Moscito bidding system called Honeymoon Moscito was devised by Mr. Peter Buchen of Australia. This variation is based on the original Moscito System devised by Mr. Paul Marston and Mr. Stephen Burgess. This variation is different in that it combines a strong 1 Club with other openings, mainly showing Major suit holdings and complete but natural relay responses.
