Definition of Constructive
Moscito defines a constructive opening as a hand with 6-9 slam points.
Ace: |
3 slam points |
King: |
2 slam points |
Queen: |
1 slam point |
Singleton King/Queen: |
0 slam points |
Singleton Ace: |
3 slam points |
Definition of Preemptive
Moscito defines a preemptive opening as a hand that is too weak for a constructive opening. |
Most preemptive openings do not have a minimum strength, however, almost all preemptive openings have minimum suit quality requirements. For example, a 3 Minor opening promises two of the top three honors. A Frelling 2 opening promises at least Qxxx in a Major, and 3.25 points. |
In some cases, preemptive openings can be made on relatively strong hands. Opening might bid 2 with a balanced 10 count. |
