These opening bids are based on the Swedish Standard bidding system and are very similar to the concept behind the Precision bidding system. Mr. Mats Nilsland, born in the year 1951, (facebook), and Mr. Anders Wirgren have compiled and published four books on Modern Standard for bridge players and are from the area of Lund, Malmo, Sweden.
Mr. Anders Wirgren has been instrumental in developing bridge software programs, which generate random deals or deals with restrictions on one, two or three of the hands. The name of one of his software programs is the popular Scania BridgeDealer.
Mr. Mats Nisland and Mr. Anders Wirgren have compiled and published four books on Modern Standard for bridge players in the country of Sweden. Their first publication is illustrated and titled Modern Standard Del I: Det naturliga bridgesystemet. Their first publication is the installment of four of the Swedish bidding system designated as Modern Standard. Their first publication explains the fundamental basics of the bidding system, whereas the following installments if Book II, Book III, and Book IV deal more comprehensively with particular bidding sequences and continuances. The first book was published in the year 1999 by the Svenska Bridgeförlaget in Sweden.

Note: The student will realize immediately that the strong 1 Club opening has been raised by one point as opposed to other Precision bidding systems, which have been lowered to the original 16 plus points as originated by Mr. Ching Chung Wei, the developer of the Precision bidding system.
Continuances
The responses to an opening of 1 Club conform with the responses of the Precision bidding system. Any first response of 2 No Trump after a Major suit opening is considered game-forcing. After an opening of 1 No Trump, Stayman and Transfers are the preferred methods.
