The origin of the Alexandre Two Bids, aka Alexander Two Bids, remain unknown. Any information as to the origin of this concept would be greatly appreciated. The concept is based on parameters of opening the auction or by overcalling, if possible, a suit on the two level.

Parameters of the Concept

All Alexander Two Bids, except the strong, artificial 2 Clubs opening bid, are regulated by the parameters as set forth below:

1.	The point count is generally 7 to 11 points by favorable vulnerability.
2.	The point count is generally 9 to 12 points by unfavorable vulnerability.
3.	The point count by equal vulnerability is determined by the partnership.
4.	The opening bid shows either a 5-card plus suit in the suit bid and a 4-card unspecified side suit or a 6-card plus suit in the suit bid.
5.	A requirement is that the side suit contain one winner such as a holding with either the Ace or King-Queen.

The above described parameters govern the bid suit on the two-level. The responder has the following options:

2 NT:	This first response is one-round forcing. This particular first response establishes insufficient support for the 6-card plus suit of partner. A sufficient support equals two plus cards. Therefore, the responder can hold either a singleton or hold a void in the suit of partner.
		1.	In the case that the opener rebids the same suit, then this promises at least a 6-card suit for the preemptive two bid.
		2.	If the opener bids a second suit, then this communicates the holding to be 5-4-x-x with the 5-card suit the suit for the Alexander Two Bid.

Note: Any and all continuations of the auction are determined by the partnership agreement as is any defense features when the opponents enter the auction.

Note: The employment of double in any competitive auction is a matter of partnership agreement.

Check with the governing body and/or the bridge district and/or the bridge unit prior to the game to establish the guidelines applied.
